Dear Boomer,
We are having a science fair, and I have no idea what to do as a project. Our teacher says it needs to be educational, and she said it cannot be a volcano. What should I do?
— J.G.
Dear J.G.,
I think you need to find something that interests you. With so many environmental issues happening, a lot of “green” gadgets and products are selling well. But do they really work and help the environment at the same time? I think you might have a lot of fun investigating a green product and comparing it to the regular product.
Science rocks!

Dear Boomer,
I’m a new (Young) Reporter. I was wondering if you had some advice for me?
—P.S.
Dear P.S.,
Congratulations on joining our award-winning Young Reporters Program! I’m absolutely thrilled to have you writing for Bear Essential News for Kids. You’ll also write for the Tucson Citizen and get to be on TV with KVOA-4. Good reporters look for stories just about everywhere. The holidays bring a lot of events and community efforts, like food and clothing drives. So keep your eyes open and your ears perked for news that other kids will want to read.
Good luck,
Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
I have a car washing business, a massaging business and a gourmet restaurant called BHJ’s.
—J.H.
Dear J.H.,
You run three businesses—that’s amazing! What’s the most expensive car you’ve shined up? At first, your businesses don’t seem too closely related. But a person could leave the car to get it washed, enjoy a delicious meal and then finish up with a relaxing massage. For your restaurant, do you do the cooking or do you have a chef working for you?

Dear Boomer Bear,
My name is T, and I go to Sunridge Learning Center, which is a Montessori school. I am in fourth grade. I love what you write (for kids).
Sincerely, T.M.
Dear T.M.,
It really means a lot to me that you enjoy my writing. I have a blast answering letters like this. Kids who want to express themselves can submit their thoughts on my new blog. You can write about some of the topics at the top, or you can share what’s on your mind. Visit www.bearessential-news.com and find “Boomer’s Blog.”

Dear Boomer,
I’m having trouble with a girl in my class. She keeps making fun of me because I have braces. She calls me “Braceface,” and I really don’t like that!!! Could you please give me some advice?
Thank you, S.V.
Dear S.V.,
Sounds like your classmate needs to grow up. No one likes being teased, and sometimes the words kids say are really hurtful. Braces not only help you get a beautiful smile, they fix serious dental problems, too. I think you’re lucky to have braces. And in a year or so, those braces will come off.
Stay tough,
Boomer Bear
