Dear Boomer Bear,
I have a problem. I have a friend (who has) been my friend for a very long time. She’s always been nice to me. Then all of a sudden she started teasing me, and I don’t like it. What should I do?
Your friend, H.R.
Dear H.R.,
That’s not a very nice situation your friend has put you in. As you know, a good friend is there for you and supports you. But you also probably know that friends get off track sometimes. Find a time when you can talk to her without other kids hanging around and explain how you feel. Explain how you still consider her to be your friend, but make it clear that you don’t want to be teased anymore.
Good luck,
Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
I love polar bears and pepperoni pizza. And I am a (Young) Reporter because I love writing.
From A.M.
Dear A.M.,
Isn’t it great being a Young Reporter? You get to write for Bear Essential News, the Tucson Citizen and air your stories on TV with KVOA-4. Hi there, Boomer!
My summer (is) a blast! I hope you’re having fun. What are you doing for summer? Keep up the good work (and) doing your best.
Sincerely,
E.S.
Dear E.S.,
This is my first full week out of school, and I’m loving it! The weather’s a bit warm for playing soccer and basketball, so I try to play those in the morning or early evening. Of course, we polar bears love the water, so I’m at the pool with my parents whenever I need a break from the heat. Remember to drink enough water, put on sunscreen when you’re headed outside and always swim safely.
Have a fun one!
Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer Bear,
My puppy died before she was a year old. Every night I think or cry about her. I’m really sad.
From L.P.
Dear L.P.,
Pets like dogs or cats aren’t just animals—they become part of our families! I am so sorry that you lost your puppy. I’m sure it’s been tough on everyone in your family, whether they show it or not. It’s natural to be sad over such a loss, and it’s going to take time to heal. Sometimes it helps to share your feelings with someone who understands, like a parent, your teacher or school counselor.
Hang in there,
Boomer Bear

Dear Boomer,
My birthday is (in) July. My sister’s birthday was on April 16. Unfortunately, our dad went away on a long trip and hasn’t come back. My sister is sad because he can’t buy her any presents. I am sad, too. What do you do when you’re sad.
Your buddy, J.N.
Dear J.N.,
It’s only natural to miss your dad while he’s away. Many kids face a similar situation, especially those who have a mom or dad serving overseas with the military. Special days like birthdays and graduations can be hard without mom or dad there, and I’m sure that your dad feels like he’s missing out, too!
I’m glad you’re sharing your feelings. When I’m sad and unsure of what I should do, I try to find an understanding adult like my mom, my teacher or the school counselor. And since you’re obviously a good letter writer, maybe you can write or e-mail your dad to keep in touch about those everyday and special things that happen in your life.
Hang in there, Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer Bear,
I have a kid in my class who says I love a girl in my class. I tried telling him to stop, but he doesn’t listen.
From your buddy, L.C.
Dear L.C.,
Your classmate is trying to get under your skin and obviously doesn’t have anything better to do than to annoy you. Ignore it, and it’ll probably go away. Remember, the end of the school year is near!
Best of luck, Boomer Bear
