Dear Boomer Bear,
Have you ever (gone) to a monster truck show? I never have.
from H.C.
Dear H.C.,
Believe it or not, I just went to my first monster truck show. It was April 26 and 27 at Firebird International Raceway! If you’re into roaring monster trucks or machines that go unbelievably fast, you’d have a great time at Tire Pro’s Monster Truck Nationals!
Vroom! Vroom!

Dear Boomer,
This is my first time writing to you, but I just wanted to ask you what to do when people call me names that hurt my feelings. What should I do? I also don’t have many friends at school. Can you help me?
Sincerely, L.J.
Dear L.J.,
You write really well, and I’m glad that you’re sharing your feelings here. I don’t think most kids realize how much their mean words can hurt a person. Those name-callers have really put you in a tough spot—you don’t want to make a big deal about it, yet you still want it to end. Keep being yourself and try to be around a nicer group of kids. With school coming to an end, maybe you can join in a summer club or camp that offers things that you really enjoy. It’s a great way to meet people who have something more in common with you.
Stay cool,
Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
I’m one of your biggest fans! What kind of issue are you planning? What’s your favorite season? How many fans do you have?
Your biggest fan,
D.C.
Dear D.C.,
My rugged good looks and razor-sharp wit (not to mention my modesty) make me a magnet for fans. Actually, I consider all my fans to be my friends. And since you’re my biggest fan, I guess that makes you my best friend, too! In terms of numbers, I’m afraid I lost count a long time ago. But it’s a great feeling to have thousands and thousands of terrific friends all over the state. For this issue, I’m showing kids how to take great pictures with digital cameras (see pages 22 & 23 of Bear Essential News).
Tu amigo,
Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
I really enjoy reading “Letters to Boomer”—it’s my favorite. I play soccer a lot with my friends. I’m even on the soccer team. There’s some stuff that I can’t do, but my brother can! He’s 14. We like playing soccer together in the backyard. Sometimes I beat him and sometimes he beats me, but we don’t get mad if we lose. I love soccer because my whole family plays it.
Your friend, C.M.
Dear C.M.,
Soccer is a fabulous sport! Your love of soccer obviously runs in the family—do ya think it’s a genetic thing? Most babies are happy holding a ball or rolling it around. But in your case, you probably popped it up, kneed it and then headed it into the back of the net! It’s cool that your older brother enjoys keeping you on your toes when it comes to soccer skills. I’m sure it helps your game.
GOOOOOAALLL!

Dear Boomer,
How are you doing? I am fine because I only have (two) weeks till I get out of school. I find LEGOs interesting. When I buy one, I start building it right when I get home.
Your friend, L.L.
Dear L.L.,
I love the end of the school year. Like a lot of students, I’ve worked hard and learned a lot this year. I’m looking forward to moving up a grade, but I’m even more excited about SUMMER! Building with LEGOs is a blast. What do you plan to put together this summer?
See Ya! Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
Mrs. Frantz is a great teacher. She understands the students. She’s not afraid to express her feelings. She also gives chances. She is great at teaching math, reading and language arts, and she always has projects that make you understand what you’re dealing with. She’s also an easy person to talk to about personal things. Pretty much every kid I know wants to be in her class.
Sincerely, C.A.
Dear C.A.,
The school year’s winding down, and it’s great to see how much you appreciate your teach! The best teachers always seem to love learning and share that enthusiasm with their students. I’ve had some outstanding teachers, and while it’s sad to move on, I also look forward to learning from someone new.
