Dear Boomer,
I went to your (Young Reporters) workshop on Oct. 25—it was so much fun! I went with most of my class. I learned a lot about journalism and about writing. I’m really excited about next year’s! I really enjoyed the part where you sit at the anchor desk.

Dear D.M.,
Congratulations—you’re an official Young Reporter! The guest speakers were phenomenal. Professional journalists showed you the ins and outs of reporting, and then you got to interview Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers! I can’t wait to read your first news story. For kids in grades 3 through 8 who didn’t go to the workshop, you can still be a Young Reporter. Visit our Web site www.bearessentialnews.com and print out the sign-up forms.

Dear Boomer,
I have a major crush on this girl, but I’m transfering schools. What should I do?
—R.D.
Dear R.D.,
If you want to take a chance, ask the person what would be the best way to keep in touch with her after you go. She might be willing to text, instant message or talk on the phone.
Best of luck,
Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
I must live in a group home because my brother has been mean to me.
Love, M.M.
Dear M.M.,
What a tough situation you’re in. Try to remember that it’s in no way your fault. There are actually many great kids who are moved into group homes for one reason or another. Try to make the best of this difficult time in your life, and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
Thinking of you, Boomer
Dear Boomer Bear,
Why can’t we have Barack Obama come to our school and talk to us about good things for our community?
—F.J.
Dear F.J.,
What a thrill to have Barack Obama as our next president! This year’s race for the White House couldn’t have been more exciting. You obviously know that President-elect Obama got his start doing community work. Being a reporter, I always say that it doesn’t hurt to ask. Who knows? The next time the future prez visits Tucson, he might make it a point to talk to your school about making your community stronger!
Put in your request early!
