Dear Boomer,
I have a crush on a girl, but how can I tell her?

S.P.

Dear S.P.,
Getting to know this person would be a good first step. Ask her how things are going, etc., but I would never say “I have a crush on you!” See if you have anything in common and try to build a friendship from there.

Best of luck,
Boomer Bear

Dear Boomer Bear,
I want to become a Young Reporter. I do have a choice to become (a reporter) in this club called “Falcon Edits” at my school. I want to be one except that I (would) have to read my poems and other stuff in front of many people. I hate to be in front of people with all their attention on me. Can you please help me out?

Sincerely,
D.J.

Dear D.J.,
You express yourself really well, and I can’t wait to have you be a Young Reporter! To help you get started, we’re putting on our annual Young Reporters Workshop on Saturday, Oct. 25 at KVOA-4. At the workshop, kids in grades 3 through 8 learn the basics and receive the materials they need to start reporting. Please have your teacher or parent call 792-9930 to register you for this very special event. Young Reporters write for the Tucson Citizen and for Bear Essential News. And for you hams out there, you can even go on TV with KVOA-4.

Hope this helps,
Boomer Bear

Dear Boomer!
I love the stories in your many issues. They are interesting and fun to read. Your writers have the right idea. You are really a role model for younger kids. Your newspaper helps promote good behavior and self-determination. Thanks for everything!

Your friend,
W.M.

Dear W.M.,
What a flattering letter! I love the fact that you get what Bear Essential News is all about. Many of the fun and interesting stories that you enjoy are written by our talented Young Reporters, who really know how to get the scoop!

Readers are winners,
Boomer Bear

Dear Boomer,
I have a lot of homework and a lot of stress. I am trying to play two instruments and get the lead role in a very complex play with a lot of singing. My voice doesn’t sound very good, but I practice every day. What should I do?

Sincerely,
M.O.

Dear M.O.,
Playing two instruments can be hard, especially if you try to play them at the same time! Obviously, you aren’t afraid of challenges. The problem is that you’re taking on too many challenges at one time. More and more kids have too many activities and not enough down time, which can add up to stress. Talk to your folks and see if you can figure out a way to simplify things, which may mean dropping an activity or two.

Keep things fun,
Boomer Bear
