Dear Boomer,
I think President Obama’s biggest challenge when he takes office is going to be all his work. He probably needs to try to work on the things that he said he was going to do, like (our energy problems). But I think his biggest challenge is trying to settle in to be comfortable with being the prez.
Sincerely,
H.C.
Dear H.C.,
These are exciting and very important times for the United States. Didja see President Obama’s inauguration on Jan. 20?
It sure was worth watching—it’s not every day that you get to see history being made! I hear that he has big plans that he wants to roll out now that he’s in the White House.
Hoping for the best,
Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
I want to join the Young Reporters Program and was wondering if I have to go on TV or not. If I am on TV, other people will see me.
Can I be chosen to go on TV?
If you choose me, I’ll be happy.
—W.M.

Dear Boomer,
Do you like Nick Jonas?
— O.R.
Hi, O.R.,
Those Jonas Brothers are amazingly talented. Didja catch them on the Disney Channel singing at the Kids’ Inaugural concert? Michelle Obama was in
the front row with Malia and Sasha, and the kids went up on stage to dance with the Jonas Brothers. What a week for the Obama family!
Your friend, Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
I have a big crush on a boy at school, and I’m really nervous to talk to him. What should I do?
— B.G.
Dear B.G.,
When it comes to kids and relationships, I suggest you try the friendship thing first. Find out what he’s really like, and see what things you have in common. Of course this means you’re gonna have to talk to the guy. Just be positive and be yourself!
Best of luck,
Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
I have a boyfriend at school. Today, we took pictures together at school. I asked him, “Isn’t taking pictures together fun?” He hates me a lot!
— W.V.
Dear W.V.,
That’s a pretty entertaining story you just shared. Keep having fun at school—with or without this guy!

Dear Boomer,
I went FISHING! It was my first time fishing, and I didn’t really know what to do. But I got the hang of it. I was so scared because what if I fell in? I didn’t know how to swim! I dropped my sunglasses in the water and tried to catch them, but they disappeared! I only caught one TINY fish. I set it free because we didn’t plan on eating/cooking any fish.
One boy hooked his own grandpa by the lip, and his grandpa was bleeding! I didn’t want to see what happened next, so I put bait on (which was salmon eggs). I waited and waited. Finally, I decided to fish another place, and when I reeled it in the salmon egg was GONE—some fish stole my egg!
It was a great day! After fishing we grabbed our lunch and sat down to eat. I had a great fishing trip!
Sincerely, C.H.
Dear C.H.,
I love to fish, and I love EATING fish! Fishing takes skill, know-how and luck. I enjoy it because it’s a fun way to spend some time relaxing with my folks. Sounds like that kid hooked a big one! When it comes to fishing and those sharp hooks, it’s safest to stand a good distance from the person casting. Congratulations on catching your first fish.
Your fishing buddy,
Boomer Bear
