Hi, it’s me, your pal the ADOT Highway Hawk. I look out for safety, and that includes keeping highways and roads clean.

A series of winter storms brought lots of rain and snow to Arizona. After several years of very few wildflowers we may be seeing lots of them this spring. Winter rain and snow will mean more native plants too. Wildflower seeds are hatching already!

The best time to see wildflowers in Arizona is in March and early April. Of course how many wildflowers we will be able to see depends on the amount of rain we get and how responsible motorists and passengers are.

If people are careless with trash and debris, motorists will see empty plastic bags and trash rather than beautiful wildflowers.

So remember, wherever you travel to see wildflowers this spring, Don’t Trash AZ!
