Blog Topic - What do you do that helps conserve energy or fight global warming?

Dear Boomer Bear,
I am 10 and I want people to know that ways to help the Earth are as easy as recycle paper, bottles and turning off things when you aren't using them

Hey, Boo77,
Thanks for doing what you can to help the environment. Didja know that Bear Essential News sponsors the Earth Day Festival & Parade? If you're in Tucson, swing by the northwest side of Reid Park on April 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's a whole lotta fun and it's free!

See ya there, Boomer Bear

Happy Boomer

Dear Boomer Bear,
There are a lot of things I do to conserve energy. For example, I turn off the sink when I brush my teeth and take shorter showers! I like your newspapers, and I'd love to be a writer, but I hafta think about which idea to write about!!!

Sincerely, Boo77

Dear B.H.,
There are lots of things that pollute the air. Earth Day is April 22, and you can find ways to reduce air pollution to celebrate! Ride the bus or bike to school instead of being dropped off in a car; swap out regular light bulbs around your house with compact fluorescent bulbs, and turn off lights when they aren't needed. Please share what you find out!

Be green, Boomer Bear

Dear Boomer,
What can I do to help the Earth and save it by trying to stop air pollution around the world?

Tu amiga, B.H.

Boomer Bear--
I clean up trash!

Your friend, A.G.

Dear Boomer,
Here are some ways to conserve energy:
1. Turn off the lights when you leave the room.
2. Turn of the TV and play outside.
3. Turn off the water when you are brushing your teeth.
4. Take a shorter shower.

I hope this helps, D.C.

Hey, B.E.!
There are a ton o' ways kids can help the planet. Learn ways to conserve water at home and at school (see Water Wise in the newspaper each month!). Don't waste electricity. Walk or ride your bike instead of being driven here or there. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! I want to know how my young fans and readers help the environment! Send me your ideas below!

Love, Boomer Bear

Boomer,
What can I do to help the Earth?

--B.E.

Dear Boomer,
I read some of the letters and saw S.G.'s. I thought the same thing--this world can be run on something else.

Your new friend, M.C.

Boomer,
I think there's a fine global warming site for kids, but I can't find it, so good luck! I also LOVE conservation.

--R.B.

Boomer, my family doesn't turn on the lights unless it's necessary. When somebody turns it on when it's not needed, we tell them "No, just open the blinds." --Shorty

Dear Boomer, Global warming is a big problem and we made it! (Well, not us, but the human race) and we should be the ones to fix it. I know what you're thinking: "So, what can I do to help? And why should I?" Well, to answer your first question you can help to stop global warming by riding your bike at least once a week (with gas prices your mom and dad might want to join you!) And for the other question: if no one will help, then the world might not be able to hold life in a hundred years. "Well, I won't be here in a hundred years," you say. Well, if things stay the same, your grandkids might not ever see a real live polar bear because global warming is melting the north pole and we're to blame!
BUT DON'T PANIC!!! You can help by doing little things like recycling. (I even found some 'cash for cans' places around town were you get money for your used cans!) Carpooling, cleaning your park up with friends--we might not have such hot weather!!! Imagine no more hot 100+ weather. So you can help by doing small and thinking big! --Jessie
