Happy Fourth of July!

There's definitely a buzz in the air...

Flags are hoisted, grills are going and the patriotic spirit of America shines just as bright as the night sky lit by fireworks.

There are plenty of events this week to ring in Independence Day, plus you won't have to go far to take part in the action.

Gilbert-area residents can look on up from several viewing areas around town for this year’s 4th of July Celebration. Families can head over to the main event happening at Higley High School. Starting at 6 p.m., grab a bite from food trucks and stick around until 8:30 p.m. for the fireworks finale!

If you're on the west end, come out to Glendale's Westgate Firework Fest for an event packed with something for everyone. There is ample parking and loads of fun when you get to the Entertainment District. From 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., enjoy live entertainment from two music stages. Kids can have their faces painted, cool down on the splash pads and play games while for adults, an open-air beer garden awaits. Dive into discounts and specials from the district's many restaurants and shops. Set up your chairs for a viewing of the huge fireworks display by the fountain park.
