On Saturday, July 15, Kino Stadium North becomes a battleground, as FC Tucson soccer hope to outscore its opponents, the Colorado Rapids U23s. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. with gates opening an hour prior to the public. Settle in for a game or the series with cheap admission and enjoy your game with concessions and treats to keep the heat at bay!

Tucson History Tour: The Sosa-Carrillo-Frémont House

Step inside the Sosa-Carrillo-Frémont house and step back years into Tucson's treasured past! Tucked inbetween Downtown's modern cityscape and bustling streets, you'll find this retreat seemingly untouched by time. Admire the historic site's architecture, hundred-year-old fig tree in the courtyard and learn about some of the residence's famed inhabitants.  

Inform the attendant on duty you're visiting the museum for FREE parking in the lot off of Granada Avenue.

"Mars, Close-up" Summer Science Saturday

This year's Lunar and Planetary Labratory's open house will be held in celebration of the High-Resolution Imaging Science Experiement, HiRISE. Dozens of activites will educate and entertain kids throughout the day, including a chemistry show presented by Brain S.T.E.M. at 11 a.m. Also join in on at 1 p.m., for a discussion with HiRISE's principal investigator Dr. Alfred McEwen for the latest findings of the Red Planet!

Just in time for the swelting summer is this season's sweet staple it's prime pickin' for peaches! Apple Annie's invites the whole family to thier fruit orchards for the 18th annual Peach Mania celebration.

Kick off your morning with an "All You Can Eat" peaches and pancakes breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. When everyone is filled up, hop on a FREE wagon ride over to the orchards and pick away underneath the shaded trees. Stick around for lunch, served from 11:30 to 3:00 p.m. and beat the heat with sweet samples of fruit, a bowl of peach ice cream or top it on a slice of homeade peach pie in addition to dozens of other peachy products! 




Kristopher Yanez is the proud father of 1-year-old daughter Kennedy, a journalism student at Pima Community College and is also the first-ever Bear Essential News Summer Reporting Intern. When Kris is not doing school work, he is off chasing after young Kennedy.
