Dear Boomer,
I have a cousin on my dad’s side who I barely met two weeks ago. Well, I went to her birthday/pool party a few days ago, and she had some of her friends come over. They were all cheerleaders. So when we got into the swimming pool, they were doing cheerleading stunts, and I just stood there in the water watching them. I felt very left out.
Your pal, S.Q.
Dear S.Q.,
It’s nice that your cousin you hardly know invited you to her birthday bash. At parties, no one wants to feel left out, though. If she and her guests were a bit more sensitive, they would have tried to include you in their fun. Heck, they could have taught you a move or two. Remember, parties are for everyone to enjoy, so always try to include all the partygoers in the fun.
See ya!
Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
Tell me, do you like tag? Or maybe basketball? I don’t like scary movies—I always dream about them! Why do they make scary movies? I really like funny movies.
Your friend,
C.F
Dear C.F.,
Guess what? You’re it! I love activities that keep me on the move. And when it’s me and a bunch of my buddies, there’s usually a lot of running involved. Heck, we even chase each other in the swimming pool, playing “Marco Polo.” The Summer Olympics are coming up in Beijing (see pages 18 & 19). I can’t wait to see the U.S. men’s basketball team take on the rest of the world! When it comes to movies, lots of people love getting scared silly. Like you, I enjoy comedies the most.
Tu amigo,
Boomer Bear

Dear Boomer Bear,
How is your summer? My summer’s fun because I went to Kingman. Most of the time I went swimming on my summer vacation. My vacation (also) was fun because I went to the river. I got a boat and my cousin came with me for a ride. As you can see, I’m having a great summer.
Sincerely, R.M
Dear R.M.,
Sounds like an awesome time.
I love visiting Kingman, which is in the northwestern part of Arizona along the famed Route 66. At an elevation of more than 3,300 feet above sea level, Kingman is a cool place to visit. How many days did your family hang out up there?
Boats are a lot of fun as long as you know how to play it safe. Kids should always have adult supervision and approved personal flotation devices that fit. I hope the rest of your summer turns out great!
Stay cool,
Boomer Bear

Dear Boomer,
How are ya today? I’m fine. I need to ask you a couple of questions. Number one: What school do you go to? Number two: How is your family? Number three: How old are you? I’m 11.
P.S.—I love your articles.
Love always, D.B.
Dear D.B.,
The temperature’s over 100 today, but I’m stayin’ cool in the pool. When school’s in session, I go to Bear Canyon Elementary and am heading into fifth grade. My family is doing fine, thanks! With gas prices so high, we’re trying to pick a vacation destination that’s not too far away. In September, I’ll turn 10.
Readers are winners, Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer Bear,
What sports do you like to play? I like to play baseball.
Sincerely, W.D.
Dear W.D.,
When it’s scorching hot outside,
I love swimming. Remember, kids should only swim when there’s an adult watching the water. I also love playing baseball, soccer and basketball. I can’t wait for the Beijing Summer Games to kick off in August!
