Dear Boomer,
My fifth-grade class does a day where everyone dresses up in colonial outfits. I learned how to make corn husks into dolls. It’s actually really fun!
UR BFF, E.F.
Dear E.F.,
I love history, especially when I get to play a role in it. Your teacher sounds very creative. And since Arizona’s 100th birthday is Feb. 14, my January 2012 feature should be great for your class!
Check out pages 10 and 11 to see where our state has been, compare it with modern day life here, and think about where our great state will head in the next 100 years!
Your best buddy,
Boomer Bear
Boomer Bear,
I’m making my school year great by doing my best in each class every day!
Your friend, L.V.
Happy New Year, L.V.!
It’s so great to hear from motivated students like yourself.
No one can ask a student to do any more than their best each day. Wishing you a great year at school.
Good luck, Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
If you keep on geting sick, consider staying in bed for a while and see what happens.
Sincerely, M10
Dear M10,
A lot of my buddies are getting sick this season. You certainly don’t want to spread around any cold or flu bugs. So wash your hands regularly, cough or sneeze into the crook of your arm, eat right, exercise and get enough rest. And if you feel like crud and think you're contagious, stay home and see a doctor if you aren’t getting better.
Here’s to a healthy 2012,
Boomer Bear
I get really bad dreams, usually sad ones and it’s always about my family, friends and pets. I can’t focus on school because of it. It’s lowering my grades! Please help me!!!
Your fan, B.B.
Dear B.B.,
Since your dreams are begin-ning to affect your school-work, maybe you should go to your school counselor for some ideas. You definitely sound stressed, and I don’t know if your dreams are causing your stress or if your stress is causing your dreams.
I’d also talk to your mom or dad. Getting enough sleep and having a routine is said to help. Maybe they could give you some warm milk or some hot chamomile tea before you go to bed. Even a soothing massage or neck rub might cut your stress at bedtime.
Sweet dreams, Boomer Bear
Dear Boomer,
I think you’re cool and fun. What’s your favorite pizza topping? Mine is pineapple. You’re a great bear—keep roaring it up!
See ya, C.M.
Thanks C.M.,
I love gettin’ words of encourage-ment like this. As for pizza toppings, I’m a huge pepperoni fan!
Happy New Year, Boomer Bear

Dear Boomer,
My favorite part of Bear Essential
News is that kids like me can become
a (Young) Reporter for it! My teacher
got them for our class, and it turned
out that the whole school wanted
some! I thought that was really cool.
See ya, B.V.
Dear B.V.,
My Young Reporters Program is
defi nitely a cool thing for kids like
you. Not only do you write news
stories for Bear Essential, you also
get to air your stories
on TV with FOX10
and My 45!
Students in second through eighth
grade can be Young Reporters. Go
online to BearEssentialNews.com
and click on “Young Reporters” on
the left to print out the sign-up form
you need. Have your parent sign
the bottom and mail it in. In a few
weeks, I’ll mail you your offi cial
Young Reporters Kit, complete with
your press pass and reporters pad!
Readers are winners,
