Facing a Pitching Ace

Baseball is in the air! Matthew Cole Lujan was born in Stockton, California, on Aug. 23, 1988. He is a pitcher for the Sacramento River Cats, a San Francisco Giants minor league baseball team.

Mattie Lu, as some people like to call him, is also a baseball fundamentals-and baseball specific-speed and strength training coach for budding players in Phoenix, Arizona.

Mattie Lu’s most memorable moment in baseball was when he pitched against the San Francisco Giants, and his most memorable game was when he pitched in Stockton, California, and struck out 13 players.

One day, Lujan would like to become a baseball scout, where he searches for talent and valuable players. The player who influenced him the most was Chicago Cubs Hall of Fame pitcher Greg Maddux, #31.

When Lujan is not playing baseball or coaching, you can find him playing music and eating his favorite food, Italian style. He says that the best advice anyone gave him was to “lead by example.”
