Gaslight Offers Camp for Kids

In the summer of 2016, I joined the Gaslight Summer Camp. It was such a fun and amazing experience. I learned all about melodrama, I got acting and singing tips, and this all happened at the Gaslight! I loved this camp so much, I can’t wait for this year’s summer session!

“The Gaslight Theatre summer camp for kids is a wonderful opportunity for beginning through advanced experienced children who love to sing, dance, and or act,” explains Christina Colombo, director of the Gaslight Music Hall Summer Camp and a Gaslight actor.

Kids learn theater terminology, learn how to audition, have an actual audition, and perform in a Gaslight-style show on one of the Gaslight stages, according to Colombo. "That's a dream come true for a lot of boys and girls.”

This will be the third year of Gaslight Summer Camp. Katherine Byrnes, the director of the camp (Broadway location) is also the choreographer for the Gaslight Theatre.

Byrnes says, “The Gaslight Summer Camp is special because it is the only camp in Tucson specializing in melodrama theater,” Byrnes has been directing and the writing the shows for the summer camp since it began in 2015.

The Gaslight Music Hall in Oro Valley is also holding camps. If you live on the northwest side, it’s a perfect location for you. During the camp, you will learn, rehearse, and perform a musical for your friends and family! AND some of the Gaslight actors will come and help you! You don’t want to miss out!!
